A production system that runs the workshop floor.
We built a 12-person manufacturer a custom production-management system — replacing whiteboards and spreadsheets with one live dashboard the whole team works from.
Note: client name and permission to feature are being confirmed — shown here as “a UK fabrication workshop” until then.
The challenge
The client was tracking live production across the workshop on whiteboards, paper job sheets and scattered spreadsheets. Jobs slipped between stages, status was whatever someone remembered, and the office had no real-time view of what was where.
What we built
A database-backed system designed around how the workshop actually runs — not how software thinks it should.
Production dashboard
Every job, every stage, at a glance — the whole floor on one screen.
Job stages & status tracking
Jobs move through clear stages; nothing falls through the cracks.
Staff workflows
The floor sees what's theirs; the office sees everything.
File & document uploads
Drawings and specs live with the job, not in someone’s inbox.
Customer & order records
Orders linked directly to production, end to end.
Reporting dashboard
Output, bottlenecks and status in real time.
Admin controls
Roles and permissions for office versus floor.
How we worked
Five steps, starting on the workshop floor and ending with a system the team actually uses.
Discovery on the floor
We started in the workshop, not a meeting room — watching how jobs actually move through the building.
Mapped the real workflow
Every stage a job passes through, from order in to out the door, captured as it really happens.
Built & prototyped
A working prototype early, so the team could react to something real rather than a document.
Tested with the team
Refined with the people who would use it every day, until it fitted how they work.
Hands-on rollout
Implemented on site with hands-on support until the new system stuck.
The result
Manual production tracking is gone. Jobs move through clear stages on one live dashboard, and the office has real-time visibility of the workshop floor for the first time.
Real numbers to add — hours saved and output figures are being confirmed with the client before we publish them.
Client quote — awaiting a real quote from the client. Nothing invented; it'll appear here once we have it.
